The last episode of this season is now playing. We’re hard at work on new episodes, hopefully it won’t be too long. I’m feeling a little emotional about finally having the full body of our work out there and knowing, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that we’re well on our way to making something ten times better. I just spent last Friday having my friend’s nuts knocked around by various things and people for a new episode and it was fulfilling in a way nothing else in this world could ever compete with. I’ll let you know when I have my first child if the elation compares.
My doctors have instructed me to take a few days off from translating due to a sprain in my traducza oblongattica, so I’ve decided to cover some of the other categories in the blog.
It didn’t take long for me to warm to the idea of a fourth Indiana Jones film. As a child I dreamed of one day wearing a dusty fedora and turning back the nazi hordes who dared to defile the sanctity of our nation’s museums. I could definitely stand reliving those adolescent fantasies. Of course the whole innocent joy of seeing the aging Harrison Ford pick up the whip again got blogged down in cynicism and for months now I’ve been swimming upstream against the pre-release backlash. Ford is too old, Shia LePoof is in it (Shy-a-gay-guy also acceptable), The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is a shitty title and of course, OMGWTFOEITS where my nazis at!? I heard it all and I weathered it all because Steven Spielberg said all the right things in the various interviews he’s given since announcing the project.
Most importantly that he “ignores George Lucas” which is brilliant. Not that George doesn’t have great ideas to contribute, in fact came up with the Maguffin for this film, but when left to his own devices the man is especially skilled at… fucking things up. See: Star Wars Prequels.
