In a shocking turn of events I’ve decided to lift the veil of secrecy which has, until now, shrouded my post purple SKY extra curricular activities. Mostly because I’m so far along on them that it is almost a guarantee that they will be materializing soon.

I am working on a show for the internet called F is for Film.  While it’s still too early to discuss the finer details, I can tell you that I’ve been developing this idea since last June with my writing partner and co-star Zack and that people who have heard the pitch and seen the footage from the first early episodes say it is very very me. Which means it is surreal, weird, and quasi-funny.

To get an idea of what it’s about imagine Siskel & Ebert: At The Movies but with a technogeek mythology and the mysteries at the spiritual “end of the internet.”

Confused? We all are. But we’re hoping it all makes sense come early ‘09 when, if all goes according to plan, we’ll be launching the first set of online videos en masse. I’ll be updating The Inu with production updates over the next few months.

Aside from this, I’m also writing a serial novel that I’ll be publishing right here at The Inu (just for kicks). I just finished the prologue which may be the best, and strangest, thing I’ve written since I was in college. The story is entitled I Y ZOMBIES (the heart is pronounced “love.”) Be forewarned the title refers to something very specific in the story and in no way guarantees the arrival of the living dead.

Tis the age old story of a zombie movie obsessed girl who has a prophetic dream that the world will end on her seventeenth birthday, and forms an afterschool club at her high school to stop it. The first volume “Sick, Sweet, Sixteen” will hopefully be starting up in December, the good lord willing the cricks don’t rise…

In addition to all of that, I’m also looking for members for Yochien Ronin who live in the NJ/Metro area (or who could otherwise commute to our studio in Caldwell. I’ll be posting an ad shortly on the Myspace Page. Basically we want to find a drummer and a bassist who enjoy rockin out, and are at least sympathetic to jrock. We just want people who love to jam, and write and bounce ideas around. Yochien Ronin is a very flexible unit and we love to try new things. We’re not looking to just plug someone into our mold, we’re looking to grow into a real band.

Lots to do. So little of it paying me money.

Sigh. Art vs. Life: Round II.  

Inbetween my job and my marriage there is only room for diversion. However, gather enough diversion with minimal distraction and every so often you get something called Product. I’m excited to be able to share with the inu faithful some concrete details about my current projects. Scratch that, I’ve been dying to tell you about this shit. I can hold it in no longer. Splurge.

1) The new Yochien Ronin song is called “In Search of the Search Party” and will likely be updated on the MySpace player in August alongside the acoustic version of “Taisetsu na Mono” we played for the Jrock Choice Awards. “Search Party~” is my favorite thing we’ve done so far. I’m tempted to describe it as celestial pop punk. People who liked “Santa~” may be surprised by the levity.

I had Steph, cook me up some bad ass art to use for general promotion purposes. Jamie is working on the MySpace reboot and when that comes together we’ll have more stuff for you.

2) I’m collaborating on a number of short original episodes for an internet TV show likely to be released to a MySpace or Youtube channel (near you).  We’re currently moving into the production stages, and I hope to have more news (including the title of the show and some teasers) on this front soon, soon-ish.

3) I’ve recently dug up a project called YANBARUKUINA! I was working on when I was writing “Let’s Speak Jrock!” for purple SKY magazine. It’s a semi-autobiographical manga, which would take episodes from my own personal experience living in Japan and translate them to the world of comics. I’d like to test the waters by collaborating on three 3-6 page standalone episodes (most likely for the web through the inu) that could act as a prequel should people respond favorably. What I need is artists. So if you are or know anyone who is interested in working on something real. Lemme know.
