Pushing Daisies may be on its way out for now, but look what I found! George and the gang are back (but obviously not Rube who has gone onto to be a big draw on Criminal Minds.) In fact he’s the only one who seems to have survived in a post DLM world. However, replacing Laura Harris’ Daisy Adaire will be Sarah Wynter who was Jack Bauer’s lady love from Season 2 of 24. I’m betting the other principal cast members were ecstatic to tell more dead man’s tales. I declare February national reaper month, as it will also see the return of Reaper to the CW’s schedule. Good to see that Grim Reaper TV is alive and well.

I’ll be away for work until Sunday. In the meantime, everybody have a great Thanksgiving Day holiday! I fondly recall the tear soaked frozen corn of my childhood ‘Givings in da ‘Hood. Treasure your pain!
In the spirit of Utau-Inu’s policy of content over commentary. (We have a policy?) I leave you with TURKEYS (or interpretations there of) drawn by me and Takako.
If any of you feel brave enough to draw your own Turkeys, send em’ to me at email@example.com and I’ll post ‘em here!

Is Twilight going to replace The Notebook as the scratching post that every hack scriptwriter name checks in their tween-appealing screenplays?

I would have never expected a movie called Quantum of Solace would be such a brutal, violent, remorseless thriller.
In the interest of full disclosure. I loved everything about Craig’s leaner meaner Bond in Casino Royale. I never have nor will I likely ever be into my father’s 007 (Sean Connery or even Pierce Brosnan) and I imagine he has been ruined for most of this generation by the one two punch of Austin Powers and Jason Bourne.
I loved the new movie but I’m over shaky cam and super quick cuts. The opening chase scene is a fucking travesty that could have been salvaged with just like 2 minutes (divided amongst them) of additional padding on those shots. The world can’t be this attention deficit, can it? If we truly demand this level of speed in our entertainments it’s not a disorder, it’s a goddamn epidemic.
If you didn’t stay till the end credits allow me to spoil that “James Bond will Return.” I will be waiting eagerly. What did you all think?

(based on a painting by Steve Purcell)
a happy-go-lucky smile
paints over a frowny face
those sagging canvas lines
that framing once held straight
the myth of folly took its toll
until the mirth, it mirthed no more
swept comically into the void
where once a glimmer gleamed its glow
laughter with whom he once was close,
she looks the other way.
The world returns to kinda sucking today. Pushing Daisies has been canceled. There should be a psychological term for people who love hopelessly doomed shows.
Ah well, hopefully we still get Episodes 7-13 which, might I add, ends on a cliffhanger and will supposedly be continued either as a movie, a comic book (pass) or both according to show creator Bryan Fuller. The only sliver of good news to come out of this is that he has expressed an interest in returning to Heroes and lord knows they need him.

come down, chat with me
pound back a red bull
we’ll talk as equals
what’s got you so scared?
to winter’s striptease?
with round: white belly
but also purpose
you will decorate,
such straight minded trees
with serious leaves
bowing to your weight.

Updated the Yoro MySpace with new photos of ying and I from a shoot we did with kat back in October.
Added a banner to the top of the page and some shots from the shoot which I called STORY in SOUND, because I’m pretentious and self important like that.
Go check ‘em out! Kat took some really fun, interesting sort of shots.

I think the Fox network gets its kicks canceling Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly) series, usually before they’ve even had a chance to build an audience.
Granted Drive had a huge promotional push behind it and was a mercy kill, but come on! His latest, Dollhouse, could be Fox’s ALIAS. However, in a showing of extreme distrust, the show has been quietly been moved from a primo spot next to the returning American Idol to the Friday evening DEAD ZONE where it will join the faltering Sarah Connor Chronicles in the new mid season. Two birds with one stone.
My sympathies are with Joss, even though his relationship with Fox is something of a battered wife scenario.
Here’s hoping enough people who matter watch it on Fridays since, you know, people without Neilsen connections don’t actually matter. If I was him, I’d start digging around for that card from that charming fellow from HBO.
Aside from True Blood, what the hell else do they have going on?

No time for being coy!
At last the Inu, SHE LIVES!!!! While the pickings are still a bit slim, the WORKS and PROJECTS pages are now fully online thanks to Miss Sakura‘s tireless efforts. First and foremost a big round of applause for our webmaster extraordinaire, Leisl “Sakura” Schrader!
But, boo, what does this mean for me, Joe Six Pack and my wife Sally Lunchpail?
Well Joe & Sally, it means that at last you can check out the fun promo video I made on Last Group Sounds band The Captains, which I never had the chance to release during purple SKY’s run due to sound issues I only recently resolved with Leisl’s help. You can also see what projects I’m working on including the script for the first episode of YANBARUKUINA! a one shot comic I’m searching for collaborators on. This section will also be home to I LOVE ZOMBIES, my serial novel as well as links to my other projects like Yochien Ronin and F is for Film. Or how about buying one those stylish LIZARD MAN T-Shirts that are all the rage?
And of course, what you’ve all been asking me for….
The return of Centigrade-j’s massive translation archives.
You’ll notice that Dir en grey has been temporarily removed. There is a backstory here. I worked, like, 100 hours formatting for a new database based on a friend’s programming, and in the process of transfering from one format to the next I also rewrote hundreds of translations and corrected a LOT of mistakes. I also added romaji to every single song. Well, the database thing never panned out and was abandoned and I LOST ALL OF THE CHANGES. I can’t in good conscience put Dir en grey translations, especially, out there again without first sitting down to review the lyrics with a careful eye. I promise they will be back eventually.
Because Centigrade-j is still not in a searchable database new songs will first appear on my blog, and will be added to the Cent at a later date.
I don’t care what yo’ CHINESE ZODIAC says, this is going to be the YEAR OF THE DOG, werd.
